That could have been Obama’s
Son who was shot and killed at a funeral!( paraphrasing Obama after the Travon Martin incident).

Probably fighting over the dead man’s money. Now one won’t get it because he’s dead and the other can’t spend it because he’s in jail or his defense will eat it all up.
Word to the wise don’t fight over money because it isn’t worth it. My FIL sold a company and made a ton of money and we do not expect to see a dime. He’s got a few million maybe more and we don’t really care. We have figured it will be spent or given to the favorite and that’s not us. Don’t count on anyone else’s money for anything.

My FIL told my wife that she doesn't need to worry about retirement, she'll be inheriting a tidy sum from him.

I told her what you're saying here... never count on anyone else's money for anything.

I told him that his plan was silly, that he should buy a Corvette and a boat and find other ways to spend and enjoy the money he worked so hard for.

At the same time, I get it. My goal is to save enough to live the good life in retirement off of interest alone, then establish trusts for my descendants to give everyone a leg up in life... deposits on houses, funding education, cash infusions when babies are born to help ease the transition, etc. The desire to establish a legacy that will help my descendants is strong, mostly because I remember how much of a challenge many of these things were for me.

But, there's a part of me that thinks I should just spend half of it on hookers and blow, and waste the rest
