Although he is supposedly Pro 2A, he's giving them ideas to possibly ban other features of a firearm, semi-auto, red dots, etc.
This is similar to the press adverting after 911 the fact that certain shipping ports are are more vulnerable to attack then others.

I suspect their idea of "more deadly" (sic) revolves around an increase in capacity, Rate and/or volume of fire, not the efficacy of the cartridge, although bullets being "mo' deadly" is what brought New Jersey the ban on Hollow Pointed ammunition.
On a Tangent: It wasn't that long ago a Federal Court determined California's requirement for BGC's on ammunition was unconstitutional, and still NY os like "so what?" Same with Magazines, and lord only knows what else.
