Let’s see how far this gets? I appreciate it but not sure much will come of it. I’d love for the Supreme Court to take it up and finally decide.

For sure. They said at some point the Supreme Court would take this up and I’m wondering if this is the chance we have and case to go there.
From the article it didn’t seem like it was a blanket ban but that people had to ask to get approval and the government is directly saying no. Could be a good one to go all the way.

There are already numerous cases the S.C. could have picked up to resolve this issue and THEY DIDN'T!
Why would we need a NEW one that will take years to get to S.C., just to be thrown out at the last minute?

DC is a special case with SCOTUS.

Everywhere else you have to work your way up through the circuits, but DC is the only place where SCOTUS has "original jurisdiction".

Technically SCOTUS *could* hear any case between the federal government and a state government directly, in practice they refuse.

Since this is DC though, things are different. You can file the case directly with SCOTUS and bypass all the circuits, with SCOTUS being the first court to hear it.

It's related to the fact that DC is directly controlled by Congress and there is no intervening layer of government or federalism between them.

This and it appears to be a unique situation with how the government is directly denying people on an application basis. I wonder if that has something to do with it. Also the SC said they would take up an assault weapons ban case next year last year.

Government knows they'll lose without some serious gymnastics, so next best thing to kicking cases to other Courts is stalling.

How about suing any State that has no 2A reciprocity?

Defacto denial of citizens rights to posses arms across State lines, an activity granted to a Privilege (driving)...

Makes sense? No?
