You are off to a good start but its not exactly that simple. Read up on "heat anticipators" to get an understanding how a mechanical stat works. If you really want to get deep into the weeds look into Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller theory. Those functions are what you need for a stat to work correctly not short cycle or over/under shootthis is a start .. then you can build on it with code
