That way I can take some carbine classes and get used to them first

I assume you mean the non threaded barrel? Options are still surprisingly scarce. I know the klubfunstore guy in Henrietta who has a shop out of his house has had them in the past. Cheap, too.

Big mystery until you built it. Part of the fun. Enjoy. I think changing out the hanguards will work wonders on that profile. UTG pro has a nice selection of drop in slimlines.

Where did you get the non threaded upper?

For a solid set, it's hard to beat the Magpul MBUS line. Troy also makes very nice stuff from what I understand, but I've never used any of their iron sights.

If you're going to compliment a scope, the 45 degree offset sights are my personal favorite. For a Red Dot or reflex type I like the flip ups co-witnessed to the optic.

I would think you would want your iron sights sighted in at 25-50yds max but what do I know....Just thinking iron sights for close up shots, woodchucks only a few feet away etc etc

Guess it depends primarily what you use the gun for,,,,,,me, yotes and chucks and maybe deer hunting next year,,,,,,just not a fan of deer hunting,,,,sitting there waiting for them to come to you.

Turkey, yotes, chucks and geese is what I like,,,,things you can call for or target shoot (chucks)

50 yards is pretty standard, but that's the beauty of it, you can sight it in for whatever and look at a drop chart online to know your bullet path.

Military does 25 meters, but I switched the 50 yards over the years for my adjustable iron sights.

yup. my scar 16 iron sights are calibrated for 25m/300m zero. so sighting it in at 25 allows me to use the turret as it was designed. problem is the lowest setting on the turret is 200. so it kind sucks at 100 as the bullet is over 6 inches high at 100......

for all my other irons i do a 50yard/200ish setting.....this way the drop chart is like +/- 2 inches from like a few feet to out over 200y

@kev74 sight it in at 50.

It's the most common and probably most practical compliant stock/grip option out there right now. We know it's ugly and not ideal, but that's been the case for years now, surely you've seen many like this before right?

If the Thordsen was an original design and later some dude added a pistol grip, there would be people on here saying that the pistol grip looked stupid or that they didn't like the grip angle.

I try and shield my eyes from them. Once you see it, you cannot un-look it. It's worse than a rusted out Yugo.
