As long as the seal area is smooth you should be OK. The worst thing that could happen is the seal breaks and you have a bad can or two.

A little late but Have 2 of the American canners, the 30qt and the 41qt. They come in real handy when canning venison. As far as use if you are not getting pressure how much water did you put in before starting? 1-1.5 inch is probably plenty. Too much and it tales too long to heat the water...

I stopped by week before last but the doors weren't open. I did stop by the Dickson City store in Pa and the prices seemed better than GM prices were. The powder prices were decent and ammo seemed competitive. I picked up a few boxes of Fed 6.5 Grendel to try.

In my searches for 6.5 Grendel I see 6.8 is much more available. I would say as popular as 30-30 and more variety. Cabelas in CT and Pa both had a good selection
