I'd love to order some 16 ga. High brass max velocity (3-1/4 dram equivalent, 1295 fps) 1-1/8 oz in #5 lead. Wonder what the minimum quantity is.
Hell I could go for broke and order some old time 16 ga. "Baby Magnum" 2-3/4" 1-1/4 oz. loads too.
There was a (very) brief time here when the young bucks were modifying their lifted diesel trucks to puff as much black smoke as an old coal fired steam locomotive. The DEC got wind of it (prolly complaints). That fad came and went quick.
Personally, I think he does it just to stir the pot and twist the knife.
Since I've seen so much in the last 3-1/2 years I never thought I'd see in my lifetime, I'm almost hoping that if he loses the election this Nov., he subsequently refuses to leave the White House. Just to see the spectacle...
I like Fiocchi shotgun shells. They are far from "the cheapest thing that goes bang".
Quality. Hulls, primers, powder, wads and lead shot.
Edit: AND they usually offer something the "Big Three" don't, like high-brass 'maximum' (3-1/4 dram equivalent 1-1/8 oz) lead loads of #5 shot in 16 ga...
Here's the thing
Anyone in this country can become a millionaire.
It's the very few out of many who are willing to work 3 jobs, sacrifice all non-essential purchases, for 20-30 years, in order to amass personal wealth.
Please, don't say you didn't have the opportunity, in this country, of...
@Kent Goldings, you're right. For someone who isn't interested in taking it to the next level, a 200 yard zero can take you (I don't mean you in particular, I mean everyone in general) to 300 yards plus or minus, using easy holdover allowing for drop. 300 yards in commonly used cartridges for...
In the mid-1980's I bought a FWB 124D "magnum" air rifle, .177 cal. Chronographed over 900fps with Beeman Silver Jets. Had Beeman's best (Japanese manufacture) scope with quality mounts. You could easily bust aspirin tablets with it @ 10M every shot if you did your part. Those Germans know how...
Anyone out there with a "Gunsmith" license.
Love to see you post the letter you get from NYS in order to comply with this when you receive it, or post the web page.
And there I was, thinking about taking it to the next level. I was seriously considering buying additional tools to be able to thread my own barrel muzzles, and install a muzzle brake on a few of my own bolt-action rifles. Hmmmm.
Ok.
So we have Federal law vs State law. Federal law sets a minimum national standard. States can and often do enact laws that are stricter than the Federal standard.
Per the Constitution, the Feds regulate INTERstate commerce. A state regulates INTRAstate commerce.
FFL= Federal license to...
Yeh, I get all that. Realistically, inputting extremely accurate velocity figures only really matters beyond maybe 600 yards as far as plotting your trajectory goes. Case in point- for deer hunting your goal is to hit an 8" vital area. Aiming dead center, is 1/2" more bullet drop @ 563 yards...
I buy frequently from Buds. If it says 'Team Buds' then I don't buy it.
It was more fun before this crunch. They're a big outfit. They have a lot of suppliers, and seem to get ammo when no one else has it. Plus, pre-crunch their prices were great.
When they offer a deal, it's buy now. Not 10...
My point was someone jumps out at you 6' away, you're gonna point and shoot. It's instinct, and a natural time saver.
If someone's kissing close, then of course there's other remedies.
You got someone in your face, it's point and shoot. I highly doubt you'd be even vaguely conscious of your sights. Increase the stand off range, then of course.
A handguns great away from home, because it's convenient to carry, and it's better than nothing. Most handgun cartridges are pipsqueaks compared to rifles and shotguns, but all 3 have a place and time. All 3 have advantages and disadvantages.
You forgot slow to reload. You make some valid points.
A shotgun is one tool of choice, of many.
A shotgun is a very powerful short range weapon. A 12 ga. has a bore of about .727", so a slug would be a lot larger in diameter than a rifle. It can fire 9 .33 cal projectiles/shot, so five...
