For Ulster County Pistol License Holders

This is coming from the ADMINISTRATIVE (Head) State Supreme Court Justice of the 3rd Judicial District in which Ulster County is part of--not JSC Cahill or the U.C. Sheriff's Office. Orange County is in the 9th Judicial District. The parties in Orange County issued amendments WITHOUT any of the...

Conversation with a NYS Pistol Permit Holder

Hex, South of us in Orange County, the PL applicants go thru many hoops to obtain a PL. The OCSO police detectives interview them. They need to submit documents (copies of) and have to take a gun safety class with instructors who are on the OCSO list.

Conversation with a NYS Pistol Permit Holder

County level Judges Williams and Mizel are most likely to issue full carry PLs to private citizens the first time out. The other licensing officials require personal interviews and rarely issue full carry pistols licenses to private citizens initially. Many of the judges require proof of live...

Conversation with a NYS Pistol Permit Holder

NYC carry PLs are far and few. Restricted business carry PLs are quite difficult to obtain and require extensive documentation of need. NYC full carry is next to impossible unless you're part of the "rich & famous" well-connected crowd or a retired NYC or state LEO. Premise pistol licenses are...

    NEWSFLASH: Pistol Permit Recertification

Don't know why some pistol licensees make a "big deal" out of it on these boards. If you live in NYC; about the only pistol license the average citizen will get from NYPD is a premises only license. And for that privilege it will cost $340 every three years!! Can't transport the handgun unless...

    NEWSFLASH: Pistol Permit Recertification

It's only a matter of the NYSP attempting to "clean up" a corrupted pistol database with current, up-to-date contact information. It's the same way with the counties' voter enrollment sheets: voters die, move etc without notifying the Board of Elections. This is why the Elections Board sends out...

PP recert and pub records exception

My error; Thanks for bring it to my attention. HR 822 was passed back in 2013 and the U.S. Senate did not act on it. But I am very confident that HR 38 will pass in the House of Representatives then U.S. Senate and Presidential approval will follow suit shortly thereafter. The below link is a...

PP recert and pub records exception

But the Penal Law states 'license to possess pistol' not just a specific pistol per se (on your license). Using the same analogy; a police or exempt peace officer purchased a pistol on his employment status; naturally the pistol is registered with his employing agency and in the NYSP firearms...

It is so ironic that if you are a registered voter in NYS; your name and physical address is public information on the voter enrollment rolls and you can't "opt-out" from it being made public.

    NEWSFLASH: Pistol Permit Recertification

Not necessarily; The OP can move to PA and get a resident PL there. The PA standard application for CCW does neither ask about previous PL application denials nor about "Orders of Protection". An acquiescence of mine who worked for the MTA was denied PL in Dutchess County. When he retired he...
