Ive got several revolvers from both brands. I have never had an issue with either. I dont like the look of the S&W hammer lock. In my opinion the Ruger looks better but most disagree. I believe you can't go wrong with either. The Ruger is significantly less $$$.

Length is much easier and more comfortable to conceal than thickness or grip height.....for me at least. But I usually choose a longer barrel no matter the grip length or thickness. Sooo, longer barrel and work with it. You can conceal anything with enough will and effort........in my opinion. :)
