In states such as where I live, if you have a valid CCW, it negates the NICS check. The form gets filled out, but it is NEVER called into the FBI....it just gets tossed into the store's filing cabinet. Hard to believe for you folks behind enemy lines, I know, but that's how things work in Free...

The FFL does NOT run the actual NICS check, they just file the completed form locally for their own records....end of process. The only way you would ever show up in the ATF's records is if they actually went on-site at the FFL and recorded all the forms. (It's the same where I live)
