well I had a chance to shoot the green Mountian barrel today. I shot 52, 69 and 75 grain bullets from it today. I had it on a sandbag in the front and tried to get it on a bag in the back but didn't have enough elevation to use it. The weather was great, mid 40s with no wind. The groups are from 100 yards. They are not too bad for the first 20 rounds out of the barrel with no cleaning inbetween groups. The 52 grain sierra load is my plinking load, the 69 were Federal Gold Medal Match and the 75 were Hornady match. I am going to load some 75, 80 and 90 grain bullets with the measurement from the lands at the bullet ogive to see how they shoot.
Also shot some of my 52 grain load from my Rem 700 at 400 yards. Just a hair over 4 inches. While I am shooting, I see something brown fluttering on the berm at 400, I couldn't tell what it was so I stopped shooting and went to my spotting scope. A bird that looked like a chicken was walking around on the berm. So I packed up and went to retrieve the targets. It was pretty close to 3pm when I would have had to stop shooting anyway. I have seen deer walk between the 200 and 300 yard berms before while I was shooting but, never saw a çhicken on the range before.
