Being a lefty use your trigger finger to articulate the safety. Been doing it for 35 years now it works well.

Every AR needs an ambi safety, IMO. I'm righty and of course I use my thumb to take the safety off. That's easy. But setting the safety to on isn't, and even less so with the Thordsen. I use my trigger finger to reset the ambi safety. Once I'm done shooting, I don't need my trigger finger for anything else.

Totally disagree.
Ambi safeties dig into my index finger and forces me to break my grip.
IMO the only time you need an ambi safety on an ar is with the gay stock.

Have you tried the Daniel Defense ambi with the short/shallow lever?

Never had a problem, even with a full-length lever. My index / trigger finger / booger picker is either down inside the trigger guard, across it or below it. (Grasping the grip with all four fingers and the thumb is the safest way to keep my finger away from the trigger. It's not a "ready" position but's the safest.)

I have tried a variation.
I just dont ever use em. Even when i run the gun on the wrong side i still use the “right” safely with my wrong index finger.
And yes. I run wrong handed quite often.
