I’m finally planting tonight and I noticed this morning my spinach is bolting already. I have no clue why because it’s been frigid. I plant another round in the fall that does much better anyway so I’ll plan for that.
Mine started bolting a couple weeks ago. It’s all cut back nowI’m finally planting tonight and I noticed this morning my spinach is bolting already. I have no clue why because it’s been frigid. I plant another round in the fall that does much better anyway so I’ll plan for that.
Yeah but why? It doesn’t make sense. It hasn’t been warm enough and I’ll get only one harvest. It’s odd to me and mine is bolt resistant. I have much better luck with a fall planting so I may stop spring planting or do another variety in spring I love spinach so I’d like it to work. I know light hours have something to do with it bolting so I can only assume it’s how many hours of light there is that’s causing it.Mine started bolting a couple weeks ago. It’s all cut back now
Groundhog is a fine mealJust as I finished planting I went in the house and not 10 minutes later a ground hog came and ate all my broccoli again. I now caged off all my seedlings and grow bags. Jerk
Not where I live. Bastard only comes once every week or two so I’m even having trouble live trapping him I’ve only seen him 3 times this spring and twice he got dinner me.Groundhog is a fine meal
I use bonemeal . It contains around 12% calcium as well as phosphorus , which is also essential for root development and flowering. With all this rain don’t forget to supplement calcium for your calcium loving plants to avoid blossom end rot. Tomatoes and squash but also peppers. The rain can dilute it because your plants grow so fast they can’t get it to the right place and your fruit rots from the end where the blossom is.
use bone meal as well but takes a long time to break down. I added some gypsum this year because it becomes available quickly.I use bonemeal . It contains around 12% calcium as well as phosphorus , which is also essential for root development and flowering.
What did you expect? You have an entire salad buffet all laid out for them to feast onAnimals this year are brutal. Ground hog climbing in my raised beds so I put dog fencing around it and it climbed it as well. Now a deer in my yard for the first time ever.
My raised beds are 3’ in the air not a raised bed in the ground. I’m astonished a wood chuck can climb that well. I trapped the bastard today and he now lives in a park a few miles away. What did you expect? You have an entire salad buffet all laid out for them to feast on
seriously though, it seems like Rabbits , squirrels and woodchucks are in abundance this year here too. I put chicken wire around All of my raised beds to keep them out. I’ve also had to cover my blueberry bushes with mosquito netting to keep the damn birds at bay .
So far so good.
Stack em deep. No ground hog visitor this morning and deer hasn’t been back.So far only chipmunks. But my 5gal bucket trap has rid 10 and pellet rifle got 3 in 5 days
No wood chucks since I rehomed the one I caught to a park.Got 3 more yesterday
