Looking for my first revolver. .... Ruger or S&W

I'm not selling but short barrel or long barrel? A 4" GP100 or S&W686 is a classic all around utility .357 that has range and accuracy. Not exactly the most concealable unless you're wearing a coat or sweatshirt. In a pinch you can pound framing nail with one but empty the cylinders first. My brother scoped and hunts with his 686 4".

I guess I should have been a little more specific about what I wanted;-

Looking for a range gun, not CCW. I think I want 4" barrel - GP100 or S&W686 preferred.

Uh....You do know that one is being sold...oh never mind!
Great advice above. I do like the SP101 which has become one of my favorites to carry. Smaller than the GP and SW and much easier to CCW.

Think about what you really will use it for and then decide on the frame size.

I m not selling but,
I own both the GP100 4inch and SP101 3inch. They both conseal pretty easy but the GP is a far better range gun and you can fire hot magnum loads all day without a problrem.
Just dont put the gun down on your foam gun case shortly after shooting.
I was picking melted foam off the GP for 10 minutes yesterday.

Ruger redhawk in .357 is a perfect range .357 in my opinion. Not that common but they can be found. Next is the GP100.
