.45-70 Gov’t

Does anyone reload this round?

I’m about to start and I would like to use these two bullets as they seem economical:

45-70 300gr. RNFP Cowboy

458 300-RNFP

Just looking for opinions and tips.

So I went with the 405gn cowboy cast bullets from Cabela’s. Had to get some .308 and they had what I needed there too. I’m going to load them with 4198. I just sighted the rifle with Hornady 325gn Leverlutions though so I will be waiting on this.

You need a BFR Revolver in 45-75 now to go with it.

Wow not sure what to do with this thing now. I brought it back to the range today to sight it in at 100 yards. Made a group of three the size of a gatorade bottle top using just a front rest. I gave it one more right click then cased it. I’m very pleased with this rifle. I won’t be loading those lead rounds for awhile. I don’t want to mess with the zero any time soon.

This is very likely my opening day rifle this year.

What kind of rifle are yo shooting? I used my Marlin Guide on a very large pig last year with Hornady 325 grain Levevolutions, dropped right where he stood.

Marlin 1895, 20in barrel. I’ve only had it like two weeks and I love it already. It makes me regret buying a second .30-06!

Where did you get the pig?

Nice. I love my Marlins, especially the 45-70, they seem to multiply in the safe. I did a hunt in Pennsylvania. Preserve type / canned hunt. The hunting experience was ok, the meat was fantastic.
