5d tactical jig 80 percent

Anyone know if they ship the 5d tactical jig for milling out 80 percent lowers to NY state? (some places wont ship to NY) I emailed then but received auto reply saying it can take up to 3 weeks to answer any emails. Plus if they do ship to NY do they charge your credit card when you order or when they ship? they have a 6 to 8 week ship time.

I tried using search engine here and it finds to many irrelevant answers.

Just thought somebody might have ordered from them before.

I bought the modulus a few years ago because it had metal sleeves but it looks like the 5d has added those or I would have said to go with the modulus. Both are the same price now also.

I would personally try to find one locally. They will ask for who was shipped these at some point IMO. I don’t want my name on that list. The local gun show by me had them. I wanted to get some but of course now that I want them the gun shows are no more.

No shit you’re local to me then. I’m just north of Buffalo. Last time I was at the Hamburg show they had lots of them. I didn’t go to the last one though.

Modulus look almost identical to the 5D tac jig. They say on the 80 percent lowers they wont ship to a few places BUT NY is NOT one of them. What iam not sure on is on the 5D tac you need to order the Main Jig plus the Ready Mill and Pro Jig Tool Kit.

BUT on the Modulus you need the Main Jig plus ONLY the Soeedmill it it appears its a little less money but i am not sure. They are the same answering emails in 3 weeks. PLUS it says Backodered which not sure if that means 2 months or 2 years. Might try ordering one of the lowers to see what happens

I just happen to have number one on the list of recommended routers for my jig co., worked like a charm, read 'all' the directions then just follow them step by step.

Oh yeah, Make sure the bit is snugged up TIGHT in the router. If it is loose, the way it is configured, gives it a tendency to pull down into the material being machined and you won't know it till its too late. When you get machining and adjusting and lubing with WD-40, what you thought was snug, may not be snug enough. Yes it did happen to me on the very last cut, because it is so deep I had to loosen the bit and pull it out a bit. Apparently I didn't tighten it back in enough. I was able to save the piece with a little ingenuity on my part. Good luck!!!

The bit I have is screwed on to the router shaft itself, not dependent on the locking collar of the router. Thanks for the heads up though.... Take is slow and firm is the go. I did not start yesterday like I wanted, perhaps today after dinner.

Did up my first one today with the 5D jig. It came out great. What a mess it makes though. It took about 1.5 hours to complete as I took my time and cleaned up between passes. Used plenty of WD40. I have good skills with a router so this was really easy peasy, you just need to keep a firm grip and pay attention at all times and talk 'er easy. Do not force any thing let the mill do its work with nice and easy circular strokes. Once I get the lower parts in we will know for sure how the drilling for the pins went. Looking forward to doing up another up asap. I used a raw anderson for the first one, next will be a black anodized one.

Not sure on the finish yet, this raw one will be used in a budget 556 built that I want to paint up CAMO just to play around.

I like this jig much. Build a containment area to chips down.... they get everywhere, even with a strong vac on while doing machining.

Yeah, I tossed the Vac idea after ten minutes, just in the way and more noise. I got a broom.

Modulus says they don't take back orders but get on email list and when they have them in stock place order. I much prefer that. The Modulus looks just like the 5D .

5d delivered to me in 2 weeks. Modulus might never get back in stock, you do know all three of these companies are from the same man - weird story about that. Better get while the getting came be gotten.
