8 round mags for sig P938

Picked up a Sig Sauer P938 recently and was looking at the magazine and thought that it looked similar to the magazines I have for my Kimber Micro9. Decided to give it a try and it seems to work. Fits just fine, locks in and works with mag release and locks slide back just fine. Cycled a bunch of snap caps thru it with no problem. Next stop is going to be a range trip to see how it runs with ball and hollow point ammo. Seeing as how Kimber sells 8 round mags this could be a nice way to increase the capacity of the sig P938.

I'm not sure I'd want to shell out the big bucks for the Kimber mags (cheapest I've ever seen them is $50) , and probably if I wanted to carry with a grip profile that big I'd just carry a bigger gun, BUT it would be really nice to have the option to get some extra grip and control... and actually get all my fingers on it. I've mentioned before that I sold all my flush mags (saved 1 for deeper cover carry) for the P938 because with my big 'ol mitts I cant keep my ring finger on the gun with them. With the 7 rounders I can't really keep my pinky on them well, but that's less important.
I'd certainly carry one as a spare mag if I had it for that reason.

I had bought a 3 pack of the 8 rounders from Kimber for $89 which is significantly cheaper than the $50 a mag price that Sig wants foe the 7 rounders. I will say that even with the 8 rounders in place the P938 still conceals very well.

Ah. I didn't realize the Sig 7 rounders were pretty much just as expensive now as the Kimber mags when bought solo. Most of them I have came with the gun (bought lightly used with a bunch of mags) and I would swear the extra one or two I bought were much less than that. Either I'm just wrong, or they used to be less, or I got them on sale or something; not at all sure which. I got mine when the gun when still relatively new on the market.
Anyway, yeah, at 3 for $89 it seems like a nice option.

Went to the range today and put 100 rounds thru the P938 using the Kimber 8 round mags. All three I had feed and functioned just fine and locked the slide back everytime. I used hertiers 115gr 9mm FMJ. When I get some hollow points for this gun I will give that a try with the 8 round magazines. For now I would say this is a good option for those with the P938 that would like to carry 8 vs 7

Great ! Good info. I at least am very interested in your results. I know for sure there are multiple people on here who carry P938s. Please keep us up to date on future testing of other ammo and such.

If I can source more Speer gold dot 124 gr 9mm I will conduct further testing as it is my preferred carry round. My second choice would hornady critical duty as well. (Not to veer off onto an ammo discussion)

As a control I used 2 sig factory 6 round mags and 1 sig factory 7 round mag. I use those 3 to compare against the three Kimber 8 round Micro9 mags that I have. That way if the ammo doesn’t feed in either the sig or Kimber mags I know it’s not the mags.

Went back the range today. Put 20 rounds of Speer gold dot 124 gr hollow points thru it using the Kimber 8 round mags and put 50 rounds of mag tech 115gr ball ammo thru it. Fed and functioned just fine. At this point I feel comfortable enough with the Kimber 8 round mags in my sig P938 to use them as a carry option. No problems found with feeding or function.
