A2 Gas Block

Supposing that Trump gets us back our freedom or, more likely, I make like the Animals and get out of this place...
Can a neutered M16 a2 FSB be simply replaced with a normal one? Basically, what I'm asking is if the location of the pins that hold the block on the barrel is standardized or just placed semi-randomly like on an ak. (Would the holes line up?)
I like to try to keep my guns from being maimed in any way that couldn't be restored. Thanks for any knowledge.

Assuming its mil-spec, which it will be, yes. I believe the pins are tappered so they must be punched out in a certain direction. Other than that, the holes will line up with a new A2 site block.

I don't think it's quite as simple as that. The holes are drilled and reamed all as one hole. Most likely you won't have any trouble but if you do don't be terribly surprised.

They can be replaced. Barrels are serviced all the time.
hopefully people will not have a muzzle device pinned or at least
one that is larger than .740 OD.

or you could bring it to an armorer or gunsmith to have a new FSB installed

If your barrel is not drilled I would not mess with it and instead go with
a clamped post that is both easier and better.

you also have other clamp on alternatives that allow you to increase the sight radius and
make a better aiming system. It all depends if you would want a free float tube maybe
and how purist the A2 must be according to the classic configuration.
