Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., introduced a bill to eliminate the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) following a controversial ruling that tightens regulations on pistol stabilizing braces.

The ATF issued its final rule Friday that will treat guns with stabilizing accessories like short-barreled rifles, which require a federal license to own under the National Firearms Act.

"The continued existence of the ATF is increasingly unwarranted based on the actions they're taking to convert otherwise law-abiding people into felons," he said. "My bill would abolish the ATF. If that doesn't work, we're going to try defunding the ATF. If that doesn't work, we're going to target the individual bureaucrats at the top of the ATF who have exceeded their authority in rulemaking. And if that doesn't work, we're going to take a meat cleaver to the statutes that the ATF believes broadly authorize their actions."

By the letter of the law...no one. But formalities really don't matter as long as LE goes along and enforces this crap. Tyranny doesn't care about philosophy, rights or sovereignty. It has been the dominate force of rule over mankind for most of its history. This has all just been a temporary reprieve. Kind of reminds me of LoTR -Saruman: Sauron has regained much of his former strength. Saruman represents the traitors within our midst.

The House and Senate have long abdicated their power and responsibility to be the sole legislative body of .gov and passed it on to the Executive branch. This is treason against the Constitution by the very people that have sworn to uphold it. There's your damn (quiet) insurrection.

Same with their fiscal powers, passed on to the Fed Reserve. The USofA has been dying for well over a hundred years.

Organizations like the ATF, FCC,EPA,(insert powerful government agency here) should not have the power to create rules or laws. The Constitution is very specific about the formation and execution of laws.

Probably so. But at the very least we get a better view of who's who and see how they vote.

I'm ok with Gaetz spending his time on it...no skin off my ass. Keep the resistance and dialogue going.

Anything that doesn't immediately have a 100% chance to result in our favor could be said to be a "waste of time". One third of republicans in this state likely felt the same way and didn't bother to vote either.

I understand why it's easy to dismiss out of hand, but self-fulfilling prophecy is a real thing.

THAT would not need senate or president approval.

Maybe this is the first step, just to see who supports the Constitution (in this specific instance).
Next step, by his own admission, is to attempt to defund them.
It will be interesting to see if he is true to his word on this.

Eliminating the 3 letter agencies would mean Congress would have to get off their asses and actually work. It ain't gonna happen.
