Toll Payer Protection Act passes in state Senate
ALBANY – The Toll Payer Protection Act, which would provide a greater level of transparency, efficiency and fairness to the system, was passed by the State Senate on Thursday.

Rockland-Westchester Senator David Carlucci (D, Nanuet) told colleagues the measure puts safeguards in place for the motorist.

And who has forgotten the original intent of the toll purposes? They were supposed to be temporary, yet the trolls keep collecting.
I prefer the back roads and toll free highways.

The state outsources the toll infrastructure to private firms that in turn funnel money back to the politicians sending them the contracts. Will those same politicians do anything to threaten the revenue stream for their benefactors? There is not a chance in hell of these bills passing.

The worst part is EZPass has a monopoly on the whole deal. They have overcharged and ripped people off for years and I personally refuse to use them ever again. I can't wait to see what the $1.00 toll will cost non-SLEEZYpass users.

it 100% sucks and set up to make money thru fine and fees

Can't do that anywhere down here. There are no toll collectors anymore. It's all automated toll-by-mail.

I believe that NY has the most tolls and the most expensive tolls of all States; maybe that is why so many companies stay away.
