Weather is looking good for our fall Appleseed Shoot (clear and in the mid 50's) I know a couple of members from here are signed-up looking forward to seeing repeat shooter's and meeting new shooter's!
Appleseed this weekend at Sara Spa Rod & Gun Club...

Another successful Appleseed Shoot in the books at Sara Spa weather was good the rain was only light while we were breaking down ( I didn't take any pic's this time MY BAD!!) I believe we had around 22 or 24 Patriot shooters on the line both days. I would say it was about half new and half return shooters, some have returned many times over! One gentleman has come from the Buffalo area 5/6 times now.
@ArmedCorgi was a return shooter bring along his girlfriend, sister and brother in-law ( I believe he will chime in on how they like the event.) Also a new member here to the forum @toxophilite this being his second AS, he shot one over in Mass. a month or so ago. He is also in my next new member orientation class, joining the Club! This group went home with a few earned Riflemen patches, WELL DONE!!!
I myself even threw down a mat for a few rounds! I have wanted to do this with my Ruger 96/22 (lever action) ever since I bought it, unfortunately bad knee's and hip's slowed me with the transitions and the mags don't just drop out of the rifle like the do a 10/22. But what shots I did put on target I was happy with.
The bottom rifle is the 96/22 the one on top is my Marlin 57m 22 magnum. (and yes the scope was to far back on the Marlin)

It was a great time once again. The weather, while a little on the chilly side, was good. I think it was a good turnout and everyone did great at maintaining a safe line.
I am very proud to say that my Brother in law and my sister both made Rifleman. I am also so very proud of my girlfriend for hanging in there and making huge progress with overcoming a lot of obstacles. She not only had some equipment problems but she also had to shoot weak hand due to her dominant eye. The instructors were amazing in their efforts to help her and I think they liked being able to come to the rescue. I plan on continuing to work with her shooting and I really hope she will do another event with me.
I know my B.I.L. and sister loved it and learned a ton. They will be return participants.

I'm still on a high from this weekend. I got a $34 4x32 Simmons rimfire scope from Amazon a few days before the event, started Saturday w/ it not zeroed, rings slipped the rail w/c I noticed only when I was cleaning my 10/22 that evening. I put a dab of super glue at the ring mount + rail, hoping it would last just one more day of shooting.hahahah It held long enough for me to score my best score yet.
@nortatoga Thanks for posting about the club membership opening and this AS event, I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

Lol, no no, nothing like that haha. With them there and the equipment issues my GF was having, my attention was just divided. Yes, we should figure on meeting up on a range again!
Hey you shot a Mini14 at the AS, did you hit rifleman with it?
i was thinking about trying to do that.
I think he was hitting the rifleman to his right LOL!!

No, I didn't qualify with the mini14. I ended up switching to my Remington 597 on the second day and qualified again with that. With the mini, I found the aperture for the rear sight too small to really even see the two bottom rows of the AQT. I'm going to check with Accuracy Systems and see if they have a larger aperture for their tech sight that might be more appropriate for 25 yards. Honestly that was probably the most rounds I have put through the mini in one sitting. I don't really even know which ammo it likes best. So I have some more testing to do with it. I did put the second to smallest gas bushing in it and it still launches brass, lol. I do want to get Rifleman with the mini though. It'll happen.

I like to look at it like I left my mark on the range.
I finally hit Distinguished with tech sights hitting my best score ever of 242.
Two of my other goals are to hit 210 with my mini14 using peep sights and to run a bolt gun and hit rifleman.
i have heard of, but no real proof people have hit rifleman with a Mini14
