AR500 3/8 Torso

I just bought another steel target. A 3/8 inch A-C zone torso target it has two mounting holes on each shoulder to be used as a gong type target. I am wondering what people thing about a static mount vs the gong ype mount. I already have a 4" and 8" gong target I mount swinging from two t posts. With this torso i got a free 3" so I'll have 4 targets now.

I bought a Tpost mounting kit with this torso to try out but I may try to attempt to mount it static to try. I could buy a 2x4 across the back of the target with lag bolts and basically make a t with the 2x4s.

I think a gong type mount is going to soak up a bit of the impact and will be a bit easier in the target frame.

If you go with a static mount, make sure you angle it down a bit to deflect the ricochets.

either way will work fine. i do both at my matches.

stay a min of 15 yards for pistol and 100 for rifle (for the targets sake with the rifle)

I use a pair of posts about 3 feet apart, each screwed into the ground in a post mount, the target hung by chains. The static mount I used ended up putting a lot of pits in the steel I don't really get when it's on chains. The setup is portable and comes/leaves the range with me.

I will swap out the chains for rubber hangers as soon as I get around to it.

Nice thanks for all the I put. I'll probably end up hanging it atleast for now. That rubber hanger is a good idea. I use chain and s hooks but the s hooks get chewed up, atleast one did.

chains will get shot off.

bolt it to a 2x4

or hang from fire hose.
