This has been posted before... It's a maddening article because it starts out by contradicting itself. Gun ownership has declined from 94'~16'... But sales have increased each of the last 8 years... Lol and the 2% own 50% of the guns?!?!... Come on... Just crack me up why don't you!

I like how they perceive absolute numbers. Yes the background checks do give an indication of how many new firearms are hitting the market. But with states now requiring transfers of one gun to another these numbers will start to get inflated. The biggest lie is how many homes have guns in them. How do they reliably come up with this number? The answer is they can't. Another truth of the whole matter is they can't accept that owning a gun is a very common thing out of the big cities.
This really is important...
So many people have made owning a gun sound so evil that many will not admit to it. Kind of a shame, I would love to know how many in the US really are gun owners.

I have always hated the "How many guns do you need" question.
For many of us, it is a hobby, I know it is one of my biggest hobbies. I love everything about gun ownership, shopping, looking, touching and buying. I love going to gun shows, I love to look around in gun stores even when I am not buying. I love reading about them, I love talking about them.
I enjoy researching past, present and future firearms; I enjoy learning about the evolution of guns.
I REALLY enjoy shooting the best though.
One can never have too many guns!

guns are largely very specialized, that is why certain guns (like the ar15) are so popular, because they can easily be used for multiple roles (and even then, they can be specialized themselves depending on how they are outfitted).
I don't own any.
I am just the custodian for my kids and future grandkids inheritance.

When the largest cities make gun ownership impossible and the population continues to increase expeonentially in those areas YEA percentages go down over all but ownership didn't really change did it.
I'm sorry this story doesn't jive with what I know to be true. There are allot of gun owners out there. Just ask the residence of Chicago.
In NY criminals have realized high capacity mags are illegal so In order to beat the charge they just stash guns all over thier place.It's called a NY reload for a reason.
Would be kind of funny to be a lawful CCW holder and get stopped with 3 guns on you. Well officer high cap mags are illegal in NY.

Reminds me of that CBS article that tried using NFA registrations thinking that was all guns.
Some idiot got the number of "registered guns" in each state from the ATF and didn't even realize that wasn't what they thought it was, did a whole slide show about the numbers.

8.1 guns per household? Amateurs. I have more than that on my pistol permit.
And yeah, fewer and fewer people are openly acknowledging their gun ownership because its taboo these days. But the rate of ownership declining? I call BS. The shooting sports has seen a marked increase in women and minority shooters from all walks of life. They just may not be that vocal about it.

As far as need goes, according to Fortune, the average "super-owner" owns 17 guns already. And here you have to ask yourself "why?"

Yup. The real equation is:
Avg. guns/owner = ((number of known owned guns)/(% of owned guns known))/((number of admitted gun owners)/(% gun owners who admit it))
Good luck estimating those two percentages. It's like Rumsfeld said:
