A couple years ago I had a buyer that was denied and within one day the ATF called me and had me email over the 4473 to them.

A friend of mine gets "delayed" almost every time. Even though he is not a prohibited person.
This guy has never been charged/convicted of a criminal offense, arrested for anything, no domestics, no nothing, the dude is squeaky clean, etc. He doesn't want to use his SSN# but after this, I bet he will.

Unlike my friend, I had some scrapes with the law when I was young and dumb.
But yet, I have never got "delayed" even once. FWIW I don't use my SSN#.

As far as the SSN# it seems the government would already have it anyways... IDK.
I just don't like to use it any more than I have to regardless.

Probably has more to do with who else shares your name than your personal history.

That's where the SSN# comes into play.

I have never had a delay so I never use mine. I'm glad it always goes smoothly for me.
I know it gets frustrating for those that have that problem.

My neighbor never had a problem with being delayed until the last time he purchased a gun.
Even though nothing changed on his end. So I suppose my situation could change at some point too. I hope not, especially after finding out there will be investigations.

NICS shouldn't even be a thing IMO.

All the more reason to move to states where you are allowed to dispose of your property as you please. In Ohio for example, firearms may be sold person to person without involving a FFL or NICS, and the only qualifier is that you have a “reasonable belief” that the other party is not a prohibited person (common practice is to exchange CCW’s). Pretty sure it’s not the only one.

It is not the denials we have to worry about.............it is the "PROCEEDS", that the FBI wants to investigate and the ATF, too.

In Ohio for example, firearms may be sold person to person without involving a FFL or NICS, and the only qualifier is that you have a “reasonable belief” that the other party is not a prohibited person (common practice is to exchange CCW’s). Pretty sure it’s not the only one.

In most states (AZ included) if you have a CCW you are exempt from the NICS.

The theory being if something happened to turn you into a prohibited person they would immediately revoke your CCW.

FFLs love it, saves them all the hassle.
