Well, it would appear these 18 AG's from whatever States, like NY, are worried! They are worried because they know, because of Bruen, that the SCOTUS will strike down these restrictions! So they're trying to preemptively plant their flag on the issue. Using reverse logic on the ruling which addressed Roe vs Wade that States maintain their Sovereignty to decide.

They cannot outlaw weapons (which are nonetheless inherently dangerous, being a firearm) that are in common use. SCOTUS ruled in Caetano that stun guns (with a mere few hundred thousand in existence per that case) ARE IN COMMON USE, and therefore CANNOT be banned!
The AR-15 and like have something like at least 15 million in American's hands! Shit the most common pickup in the USA is the F150, and there are many, many more legally owned AR15's than F150 in use in the USA. Once the Bianchi case from MD, and other cases get ruled on at SCOTUS, this nonsensical horseshit should finally go away.

Common sense to whom? It makes no sense to many of the gun owners in NYC. When NYC gun owners own guns that function just like the AR-15 or AK-47. Bans on guns will never stop any crime. If a mentally ill person wanted to commit an atrocity or a criminal that wants to commit a crime, the only way to stop it would be someone on scene to stop it or get treatment for that person before they act. I hope Supreme Court steps in and stops these violation of NY gun owners constitutional rights very soon.
