Banks & Insurance companies (corporations) determining public policy. Very scary.
I own several Remington products, 700's and 7600. Seems inconceivable they could go belly up, since they make the most popular bolt-action rifle, pump-action tifle, and pump-action shotgun platforms in the world...not to mention lucrative military contracts.
THAT SAID, they've pissed away millions in R&D money on REALLY stupid shit in the past. Their quality control is very slipshod in the last say 10-20 years.
If I was them, I'd streamline my product offerings to their bread and butter 700's, 7600's and 870's, stop adding junk accessories, and focus on making quality products, and stress quality control.
Stop adding junk accessories, and add quality accessories instead! Slow down production and focus on quality control! Make a quality product at a fair price! Stop trying to compete in the 'bargain basement' class! I would gladly pay $1000 for a quality, well built rifle, made in USA right here in Ilion, NY.
Right now, Remington reminds me of GM in the 1960's and 70's...damn the quality control! Production, full speed ahead! Slap'em together as fast as you can, take all the shortcuts you can, skip necessary manufacturing steps (I.e. shotgun chamber polishing) and crank'em out as fast as you can!
Long live the cream of the crop- Remington 700 BDL, Remington 7600 satin walnut, and Remington 870 Wingmaster!
