It looks nice enough and for now the edge is very nice but I just found out from a buddy of mine who knows his shit about metallurgy and he says it’s a knock off. Probably from Pakistan. Luckily I didn’t pay a fortune for it. That should have probably been the tell.

I took a bladesmithing class and it was extremely fun. I did set up a small make shift forge in my backyard but my neighbors quickly got annoyed and complained with all of the hammering.
I didnt want to invest a large sum of money into a decent anvil so I made an anvil using a tree stump and 3" thick steel plate I bought from someone in Medford.
Maybe one of these days when I get a house with acreage I'll get back into it.
But for anyone who is interested you can build a decent forge for pretty cheap.
I used an old Square BBQ grill, heat resistant plaster mixed with perlite and lined the inside of the entire grill, dried and did a season burn. Make sure not to cover the circular air vent on the bottom.
Used put it on top of cinder blocks with a layer of firebrick.
Used a old car hub for air distribution for when you lay out the nut coal to get a better burn.
Used a cheap harbor freight leaf blower and some gutter piping to the circular air vent. Easier than dealing with a hand cranked forge blower.
I did make a karambit from a wrench, a chopper style knife and 2 handed machete from a leaf spring before I stopped.
