The joint resolution overturns a December 2016 post election FCC Obama regulation that provided a big business (BIAS) exemption to sell personal information with an excuse since their profits would offset in part lower fees to the consumer. Congress is overturning a 47 CFR part 64 Obama parting shot 73 page rule change based in a Trojan Horse Title with cut and paste data from previous regulations which in part is masking an exemtion to sell personal information in 87274. I read the bills , the 73 page Obama post election rule change, and the existing Code of Federal Regulations instead of just relying on potential fake news.

Actually allowing this WOULD be for smaller government. And it's exactly why sometimes small government is a bad idea; I think the plan is total horsesh*t.

That said, if this comes to fruition I will just use my VPN for everything. I already am on a VPN on one PC 24/7 (actually privateinternetaccess.com) and it's possible to get a router and a VPN service so that 100% of internet traffic is through a VPN. Then your ISP has no idea what you're doing. Your VPN service would, but there are many of them and in theory they would grow by leaps and bounds and their reputation to not sell your data would be paramount.

I believe it is high-time that internet connections were treated like essential utilities, as they are only a little behind gas, electric, water in their usefulness in the 21st century.
