Boy suspended for taking shell casing to preschool, mom's Facebook post goes viral
An Illinois mom behind a viral Facebook post spoke to Fox 2/News 11 Wednesday.
Her son, Hunter, 4, has been suspended from his preschool for bringing a shell casing from a fired bullet to school.

He’d been at the preschool for about a year, she said, and now was in tears.

Neither she nor Hunter's dad knew it, but he found something he thought was pretty neat and he took it to school Tuesday to show his friends.



“This is a spent .22 caliber bullet casing,” Kristy Jackson said, holding the object that got Hunter into so much trouble.

Man how things have changed in my middle school years we always ran around the Hudson River bank's in peekskill ny one day I found a rock but you could make out there was a grenade encrusted in it took it to school science teacher got some chemicals and out emerged a pineapple grenade No fuse or pin hollow teacher didn't make a big show of it Police weren't called parents weren't summoned ! He said could have washed up from the military past use of the Hudson valley ! Wish I still had it can't remember what came of it just good memories

I use to help with my kids rifle team in high school. I was always picking .22 brass out of the cleats of my work boots next day at work. I wonder how much brass ended up back at school, same way from the kids.

confusing a 22lr spent case with a loaded shotgun shell paints a pretty picture of the people they are dealing with at the school.
How do they know he didnt find it in the school? maybe it was stuck to someones shoe, I have come home from the range with them stuck in my boots a few times.

When my younger sister was in preschool a parent sent their child in with a dead baby skunk they found in their yard. It was wrapped in a ziplock. That is so much more dangerous then a worthless piece of brass (only danger i can think of is a choking hazard)

Since she started reloading, she decided that we should thread a 9mm "round" onto a necklace flanked by two .380 "rounds." As she told me, "Well...as long as we have holes drilled through the cases and no primers, nobody could mistake the cartridges for live rounds." (But, she probably has more sense any Liberals in this state.)

Whenever people talk about "do you think people should be able to own tanks and artillery ?" you have to point out a site like this with them actually for sale before they'll believe you that some people in the US actually do. Interesting. I hadn't thought of drilling through the projectile and then stringing the "rounds" sequentially instead of just a couple being hung as pendants.

I think I'll clear cerakote the dummy rounds to seal the lead in the projectiles since drilling would compromise the copper plating.
