Boycott Toyota Calls After Company Defends Donations to Election Objectors

Axios reported that Toyota gave $55,000 to 37 Republican objectors this year, based on data from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW). The car manufacturer gave more than twice as much as the second company on the list, Cubic Corp., a San Diego-based defense contractor.
Axios reported that Toyota defended the donations, with a spokesperson saying in a statement that: "We do not believe it is appropriate to judge members of Congress solely based on their votes on the electoral certification.

Toyota defended its donations to conservative Republicans who objected to certifying the 2020 Biden winning election results. Their vote cast was also consistent with the will of the constituents they were elected to represent.

In this regard, color me a Toyota fan and the entire cancel culture can go fuck themselves.

Toyota is a great company. They moved all of their operations from CA to TX because of the taxes and the hostile environment towards free market. They are one of the few automakers that aren't sleeping with the devil. They make more cars in the US than any other "domestic" auto maker and their quality is still reminiscent of that "old US built" stuff our grandparents grew up with. They are the ONLY brand of vehicle you can buy with 250k miles on the clock, knowing there's probably another 250k waiting to be driven.

Doesn't influence me either way. I'll consider their vehicles because as a general rule they make good quality vehicles. When I buy a vehicle I want one that is reliable and will last, so they'll stay on my consider list. If they donated a lot to a pro-2a or anti-2a politicians wouldn't change my decision at all - make a good product and I'll consider it.

That being said, you all shouldn't be looking at it this way. Dollars to donuts I'd bet it's a coincidence and they were really getting a push on legislation they wanted to help their business profits by paying bribes... errr... giving "campaign contributions" to the same politicians that also backed objecting. Ie. I'd dig a little deeper than the "who", and go down the the "why".

Had a Corolla for 12 years. Loved that car. Got a Rav4 because I needed something with AWD. It's not bad but I sure do miss my old Corolla.
