California Democrats Introduce Bill That Would Force Homeowners and Renters to Disclose Number of Firearms to Insurance Companies, Government​

A bill in the Democrat-controlled California State Assembly that was introduced on February 16th, would force homeowners and renters to disclose information about firearms they own. Assembly member Mike Gipson, and State Senator Catherine Blakespear are the two leading California Democrat lawmakers pushing this legislation.

Section 2086 will be an addition to the Insurance Code pertaining to AB-3067.


The questions include information as to the number of firearms in the home, the method of storage, and how many firearms are stored in vehicles on the property. The questions include whether or not the firearms are in locked containers or not.

Well at least they are more upfront about the registration than NYS is. I have not told my insurance company anything about my guns because I’m afraid NYS will at some point make them turn over their records.

State and Feds prolly already know what guns you/we have. As far as insurance is concerned the best thing to do is lay all your guns out and take photos of them. That way you'll get paid to replace the guns after your canoe tips over

Insurance companies make their own rules regarding firearm coverage, and or the use or misuse of fire arms. Ins. Co's I'm familiar with will cover damage caused by a gun shot, under certain circumstances. When I was a claims adjuster I went out on two suicide claims. At one of those claims there was human tissue and blood on a wall and floor, plus a single bullet hole in a wall. The ins. co. paid for the clean up and repairs to the building. The other suicide claim included pieces of brain material on the ceiling of the room where the guy shot himself, along with blood splatters and a bullet hole in the ceiling. Blood on the bed, floor, and wall too. It was messy. Anyways, the ins co paid for the cleanup and repairs to the building. Sometimes my job was a little too interesting lol.

Agreed, not every gun is known to the government. Of course there are exceptions. But no doubt they are aware of all 4473 purchases.
