The state already bans thin plastic shopping bags, but shoppers can still purchase thicker bags that are supposedly more reusable and recyclable.

To be honest I hated the wimpy plastic bags the grocery stores used after the paper bags. Then I hated the re-usable bags they made me buy, pay $.50 for each bag. But after using the same $.50 bags for at least a year +, I learned to like them. I've never had one break. They're way better than the old thin plastic bags and the paper bags too. Fuck... I've been brainwashed!!

I hate the bags we have now. They don’t fit well in the cart or the car to transport them. They are hard to use and clunky. The old cheap bags I could pick up the entire trip on one run because I could loop all the handles around my hands and go. I reused these bags for trash and then they ended up in the trash can.

And we've gone back to paper bags which, even if they don't result in MORE trees being chopped down (less CO2 extraction), they require loads of "toxic chemicals" to clean and bleach before they can be pressed into paper and formed into the new bags. So we're back to the late 70s/early 80s complaints.

I hate the bags we have now. They don’t fit well in the cart or the car to transport them. They are hard to use and clunky. The old cheap bags I could pick up the entire trip on one run because I could loop all the handles around my hands and go. I reused these bags for trash and then they ended up in the trash can.

I re-used them as can liners in my small bathroom garbage cans.

I don't like the bags that I'm supposed to use now. In the beginning, I was just in the habit of getting in my truck and driving to the store. I wasn't in the habit yet of taking the bags to the store with me. And it fucked me up for a little while, especially when I was in a hurry.

I would get into my truck and go to the store in the meantime forgetting my bags at home.
If I did remember to take the bags with me, out of habit again, I would just get out of the truck and walk toward the store. Halfway there I would realize that I forgot and left the bags in the truck... Doh!

LOL I've done the same. Forget to bring the bags, or leave them in the truck when I get to the store and need to turn around, go back to truck to get the bags. But I solved 50% of the problem by hanging the bags on the side entry door knob so at least they get to the truck, usually

Sometimes the old/original thin/cheap plastic bags would break when I'd take them out of the truck and I'd end up chasing cans down the driveway. Paper bags seemed to get cheaper and would tear if they weren't picked up "just so" and same shit... chase cans.

The new heavier bags aren't perfect but for me, they work better. Hell if I were a rich man I'd hire some sweet young thing to do my grocery shopping for me. But alas, I am but a poor boy...

A lot of my local mom and pop grocers use paper bags.

One of them has a "secret" stash of plastic bags that they'll give you if you ask.
