I'm not sure I agree this is actually the case that China has this intent, however I do think over demonization of traditionally masculine traits has had a disastrous effect on how young men perceive the world and their self esteem. Young people in general, in fact.

I don't want to derail the original intent here, but I think this ties into the demonization of masculine / aggressive traits. We shield young people so much against the harshness of the world up through college, and then we throw them into the world expecting anything other than disaster and ruin. Perseverance isn't a thing -- can't be a thing -- if all we do is shield with safe spaces. We protect them from failing at all, at being aggressive, and then we wonder why they're crushed by the first sign of failure.

I hear about this in the college environment from a few friends that work in that industry. Safe space this and that. The freedom of education has went in the dumpster a long time ago.

With everything that has been going on lately, it's been quite an interesting ride looking at it from a person that has been around the block a few.
