Anyone have any real world experience with a Gen 2?

From what I have read, the Gen 1 has had many issues. Further reading has revealed that new magazine followers have been redesigned and some users are reporting flawless operation using ammo that is short in length. IE Remington UMC, Hornady Critical Defense.

I know it's not a Glock, but loaded with ammo that it likes, it may serve as a bug. It's the same size as the Ruger LCP in .380.

I'm going back and forth with that been the Cm9 and the Db9. I need something to just throw in a pocket when walking the dog. I also need something small, light, and concealable enough that once my lady gets her license, she can actually carry.

I'm not a fan of .380's.

I have a Kahr CM40. Fully loaded it's 16 ounces. The gun is less than an inch thick. Hurts like hell to shoot, but I pocket carry or IWB (which is really comfortable).

Question for you. Does she have the strength to actuate the slide? This can be an issue with 9mm compact pistols.

She does with my 26 and my dad's 19. I was trying to keep everything 9mm though. We will see. Rumor has it that Diamondback will be releasing a Gen 3 soon. Hopefully they get it right.

Hope is not a method. Taurus is one of those things I would never buy because I had a negative experience with 2 out of the three I owned. So when my munchkin was looking for her first pistol Taurus was one of the guns we never looked at. Likewise I would never buy a Jennings anything, if the company has a bad rep or I had a bad experience with one of their models I don't even think twice about that brand.
I would stay away from DB until it is proven reliable for at least a couple of years.
Not familiar with the glock numbers is either of those as small as the one you are thinking about buying for her?

We tried my friends Glock 42 which is the same size as the Kahr CM9 and she printed badly in the waistband. As of now, the Kahr CM9 is the smallest 9mm. Next is the Diamondback which is the same size as the LCP in .380.

Looks like it's gonna have to be purse carry or a damned .380 unless someone makes a 9mm that's smaller.

From what I have read, with the Gen 2's with only certain ammo, (they actually have a list) and the upgraded magazines, operate pretty well.

Being that they are cheap (about $200 and change), I may play with one. I'm not sure yet.

Idk dude. Even if you got one that seemed to work I would always be second guessing it. I would need at least 1000 rounds through it to call it good if I was going to carry it. He named some pretty good options in the video. Also I know you said you don't like 380 but with the technology in the ammo today they are quite capable. Hell if they made a 32 double stack I would carry one with those underwood extreme cavitator rounds.

The thing about .380 that I don't like is that there are only a few rounds that actually make the 12 inch mark and even then, they barely do so. Those that do so do so by minimally expanding to diamaters around .45. To me that isn't much of a difference from. 355 in it's starting form where the 9mm is expanding to .60 and above. And even then, some that do so don't through heavy clothing.

So that leaves me with FMJ's to ensure adequate penetration but now they overpenetrate to 25 inches or so.

That's why I hate the .380. Then you have the unavailability of those rounds that do perform so-so at local gunshops with online sales almost totally gone.

Take a look at the kimber solo. I have one and like it. The gun is quality built and pretty. It's small and light and a 9mm that's striker fired, but set up like a 1911. It's all metal, but only weighs 17 ounces. I don't carry it too much anymore since I like the trigger on my xd better and the capacity. Only drawback is the long trigger. I've tossed around the idea of selling mine, but have not made up my mind yet.

Having owned a Diamondback DB380 I will say stay clear of the brand all together,they are know to have many issues.

I doubt it. Ankle carry is not that comfortable and she would need bell bottoms to conceal a 9mm. I can barley pull off a lcp or j frame.

I carry a Glock 26 on occasion with dress pants or boot cut jeans in a Desantis Apache Ankle Holster.

She wears boot cuts at times but then there is the summer and skinny jeans.

It's gonna have to be something tiny like a Seecamp for body carry.

I'm going to borrow my buddies .380 Glock again since it's the exact size of the Kahr CM9 and play with it.

If that fails then it'll have to be a a smaller caliber or just a 26 in the purse.
