I don't know why the Guillotine is not an option.
I would expect it to be as painless a method as any.
Lolz
But there are those who'd argue that the body, although separated from the head/brain, still experiences pain and therefore is cruel! Unusual as well because the dislocated head becoming disoriented as it rolls away is an unjust form of punishment!
Hahahaha...
Back in those dark days, stoning wasn't what you think it is. Rocks and stones weren't thrown at the person. They were tied up so they couldn't move (much), laid upon their back, a board was placed over them. Slowly, blocks of stone would be placed, and slowly the ability to breathe was reduced... It took a long time to succumb to this method. Sometimes days... Leniency was given to recanting convicts by allowing a family member to place a triangle shaped block strategically on the spine, and as the weight increased, would snap the neck and render a quicker death.
Same goes for hanging... when dropped on a rope, a person could linger for a very long time! Leniency was given by allowing a family member to jump and grab onto the body of their loved one, helping to snap the neck! But this sometimes also cost a fee, or bribe to the hangman, because he could be denied his comings.
To varying degrees, it would be understandable that some of these methods be employed and used publicly, to provide examples of how horrific death can be! Crime would drop like a stone, as it does in societies that employ such expedient methods! However, in our so called "civil" society, this is not allowed. Hmmmmm, is this causation or effect that so many are not afraid of Justice being served for the ultimate offense against a person, the taking of a life! Or even other reprehensible offenses like Kidnapping or Rape!
Anyways... Thoughts run away from me sometimes!
Carry on
Under Biden they'd implement the AOC Green Deal Harbor Freight LED model.
Hanging was both an art and a science.
Well regarded executioners used charts that defined body weight against rope size, against depth of drop.
A good hanging would snap the neck, resulting in a near-instantaneous death.
A bad hanging would suffocate the victim over many minutes, or ... snap the head clean off !
(I believe Saddam's hanging resulted in the removal of his head)

I'm not opposed to capital punishment in principle. The right: You can't trust the DOJ as far as you can throw them. Drain the swamp!
Also the right: They should have more power to legally kill people.
Same.I'm not opposed to capital punishment in principle.
I am opposed to it in our current justice system for practical reasons.
Firing squad, carbon monoxide poisoning, heroin overdose all sound way more humane
I was thinking the same thing.
Is a Fentanyl overdose painful ?
Lethal dose of Ketamine wouldn't be a horrible way to go.
I don't think execution should be painless though. Should depend on the crime. Some deserve a slow and painful death.
Punishment by some form of painful death would be a very effective deterrent to many potential criminals. Eye for an eye. Our society has become too soft, and I am sick of paying to house prisoners for eternity.Although that is true, I'll leave the pain and punishment part to God.
I'd be quite content simply to remove a danger to society.
Must say, though, Public Hangings need not be too painful, but would be, I believe, an effective deterrent.
And do it in the neighborhood the crime was committed.

I would bring back public execution and start with corrupt politicians.
