Here's the process today. Signed in at 1300, permit amended and out the door by 1400. If it's a current, updated permit with a single pistol addition you go to the top of the list. People getting first permit w/new gun, all current data. Processed just as fast. People with records updates with lots of data to process and verity, they processed quite a few when I was there but there were still 30 people in line. Records updates were slow with a lot of grumpy people.

On the notable side about 40% of the persons waiting were women. A handful of minorities in line. Some wimmins for first time permits.

Recert is not done by the county. They have to update permits to submit the recertification papers to the Albany Gestapo. Some had address changes, marital status changes, one guy had a SNAFU of cross registration updates to sort out. Screw the recertification, the information issues should have been current.

I mailed my amendment in on 12/18 and received it today. I said screw that. I'm not waiting in that line.

Correct. No new applications without appointment.

So many, takes time to access old records. People let stuff go. Also people had to clean up cross registration items for deceased spouses. Lots of old yellow paper permits.

Just mail it in folks. It took a week and a half to get my new gun added the week of Christmas. Not worth the hassles, freezing your ass off, and paying to park.

No idea. Lots of changes.

Went there during lunch to try to collect my unrestricted permit. Lobby filled and was told it will be an hour/hour and a half. I've been there at least a half dozen times and I've never seen it like this. The only thing different is a new clerk and that new applications are by appointment only. If anything the wait should be shorter. WTF is going on?

Bunch of slackers updating permit information. I know one guy who moved from Monroe to Erie about 20 years ago and never updated his address. Many people outside Erie County with unrestricted permits who moved here and never changed their address for fear of losing their unrestricted status.

Speaking of security...

Not sure if people know this, you CAN take your gun with you. Prior to going through security, tell them you are armed and they will lock it up until you are done.

The line for the ECPPO today at the Hamburg Gun Show was very, very long,- at least 4 or 5 times what it usually is.

The show itself was pretty mobbed. I could barely park in the lot, and there were 20 people ahead of me in line to get in when there normally are 2 or 3 at most.
