Explosive Ammo: Considerations?

I originally got the idea from one of those dudes back in the MetaCafe days. Was it "Shooting Eggs Productions" or something?

Basically, he filled a .177 "crow magnum" type pellet, the ones with those really wide hollow points, with cap gun powder (aka "Armstrong's mix").You can see just how violently a teeny, tiny little cap explodes. There ain't much powder in those little guys either. I remember this guy shooting at clay, and it left a huge crater. Again, there's only so much powder you can fit in a tiny .177 pellet afterall.

What are your guys' thoughts on this?

I have no doubt... Good thing I'm not in NY anymore. But even then, it's never exactly cut and dry.

Just buy an AR 15. According to the media, the AR 15 "assault rifle" has ammo that explodes on contact.

Okay, so I ended up finding some information that tells me it's basically legal, so long as the "charge" is less than a quarter ounce. At least in my understanding.

Remember that there has been widely available new production ammo like this for a while, though not sure on current availability. But I think it was basically regular ammo, stuffed with "strike anywhere match" material. I suppose that in theory, this wouldn't be so much different from tracer ammo.

Just drill out the tip of a hollow point bullet and press a primer into it. That should do the trick.

That's basically how tt works in .50BMG spotter tracer rounds, I assume it would work fine in smaller stuff too.
