Felony for Fake Bias Crime report

Assemblyman Kieran Lalor (East Fishkill) just proposed upgrading false reporting of a bias crime from a misdemeanor to a felony. With the crap that has gone on nationwide leading up to and after the election let's hope he gets the support and is able to make this happen here in New Yorkistan.

Kieran's one of the good guys and I'm proud to have him as my district rep.

It's focused on people filing a false report like all the made up ones we have seen during the run up to the election and since. Hard to see how it would be abused.

I do think there needs to be stiffer penalties for false reporting crimes. I dont support "hate crimes", but when people claim they are a victim of a hate crime it has a much larger impact on society because of our current media and it creates a lot more social unrest so there should be a stiffer penalty because of the civil unrest so called "hate crimes" create.
