Anyone shoot field target? Entered my first match yesterday and had a blast. It was very humbling.

Not bb's, lead pellets. Don't brush them off as toy's. They are very accurate.

I can do that with ease with any gun. What makes this special?

I've shot it a few times with borrowed equipment. Hunter Division is a blast.

It's one of those sports that require DEEP pockets. 1500 for a decent rifle, 500 for a decent scope. Lots of pellet testing. If you shoot it and really like it, take the extra time to purchase competitive equipment. Buying low to middle of the pack gear will only accomplish one thing, wasting money on gear that doesn't cut the mustard. It sucks to miss targets you know you can drop because the rifle doesn't group or the scope breaks on you.

Air Arms and Hawke optics are the place to start when looking to be competitive and save a few bucks in the process.

I'm in the market for a decent PCP set-up now if I can keep it under 2k grand total including Scuba tank refill system.

The difficulty is the velocity of an air rifle. It's nowhere near a center fire or even a rim fire. Even a small breeze will effect the trajectory of the pellet.

I was shooting a Beeman R9 with a $100 Bushnell scope with plain cross hairs for the reticle. The rifle shoots and groups fine but without mil dots judging my holdover was just a guess. My next purchase will probably be a Hawke scope for that gun. Purchasing a PCP rifle rifle after that....and down the rabbit hole we go.
