Flew with a Handgun for the First Time Today

Jetblue. You go to the bag drop, declare it, they call over the Albany Sheriff that's nearby, a very young ASD came over and asked for my DL and CCW. Presented, he called it in on his radio, it's legit, kthxbai. Then a TSA guy comes over to tie a firearms declaration to the bag and ask if it was loaded. I said no, asked where the ammo was, I told him I had a factory box in the bag. Didn't even open the handgun box, put an unloaded sticker on it and on my way I went.

It's a Glock 26 in a Pelican case. Empty, empty mag next to it. Ammo in separate location in same checked bag. A non TSA lock in both lock holes in the case.

Relatively painless.

HOPped on the plane.

I just flew from Montana into Syracuse and back, none of what you had to go through.

Montana was easy, told the United check in guy that I had a firearm locked in a case in my bag. He handed me an orange sticker and says sign this and put it on the case. No other questions asked.

Flew into Syracuse, I picked the bag up off the conveyer at baggage claim and walked out, no issues.

Checking in at Syracuse, told them I had a firearm locked in the bag. She needed me to open the case the gun was in to see it wasn’t loaded. Same orange sticker and closed everything back up. No police or TSA involved.

I flew out of Buffalo and they did nothing but asked if it was unloaded at baggage check and handed me the tag. No permit check no tsa no nothing.

Had to drive from Buffalo to Columbus to pick up a flight that was canceled out of Buffalo. So in Columbus they had a supervisor come over. Told me I had to remove the non TSA lock and put a TSA lock on my baggage that had the gun case in it. I had some just in case of this request. Asked to see the case, asked to see the ammo, put a sticker on it and let me go with just a hint of attitude. Once in Alaska it was like nothing of consequence was in the bag. Although I did see the biggest, most jacked cop I had ever seen at the airport. Holy shit that was a big boy. Upon returning back to Buffalo my bag never came through the baggage claim. Had to go to some office and tell them my bag with a firearm in it never came out. 20 minutes later some jamoke came out with my bag. Not the smoothest of experiences.

Made it back. Surprisingly took longer from FLL. I get all the way to the bag check and then they say "Oh, you need to go to this other line with that. " No cops this time though, and again no opening the case.

YES Painless Except one time in White plains some dum ass , walks up to the counter and says I HAVE A GUN , let me tell you everyone was on alert. When I get to the counter I just let them know I need to declare something , quietly
