I was hoping I misread the title. I read the article.

Its every bit as bad as it sounds.


When the Democrats win this is going to be the shit we have to deal with in the future. Especially as gun owners.

Its the dystopian nightmare every book written 50 years ago warned us about.

According to the report, former sheriff's office employees said officers went to the homes of people singled out by the algorithm, charged them with zoning violations, and made arrests for any reason they could. Those charges were fed back into the algorithm.

That's crazy, but in a way all cops have always done predictive patrolling. They don't patrol any neighborhood I've ever lived in, like ever. Never, ever see them. They do patrol neighborhoods where a lot of shit goes down--and it's not because they are making charges up.

I realize this can feel like Minority Report, though.

If a police officer takes the time to learn his "beat" so he knows where the problems developed, then he is a good cop.
If a machine takes unknown information and declares a person a risk, that's 100% bullshit.

As stated, learn your area as a cop. Meet the people on your beat. Get out of your freaken car and talk to people.

One of the things that I loved about being a cop in the Army was meeting and greeting everyone.

We called our policing, Community Law Enforcement.

We would do walking patrols all of the time. We would walk around the housing areas, we would have presence at the schools. We would routinly walk around the shopping areas. We would patrol parking areas. We would assist people that needed help. We would do all that we could do. We met the people in and around our areas. The general citizens knew they could approach us and we would be their for them. We knew where the less desirable people hung out. We paid attention to what was going on. Very little crime.

Get involved in your community and you will not need the computers to tell you who the bad guys are.
