If it is registered as an evil assault weapon, can adding features make it any assaultier? There is no restriction in the law that says it must remain in the configuration that it was registered in.

Aside from making it a pistol, SBR or a full auto you can do what you want with it.

Collapsible and folding stocks are considered the same for assault riffle configurations so yes they were legal and still are if it's a fixed mag gun.

Let's say you purchased an AR15 prior to the safe act and post ban which allowed a muzzle brake and a pinned collapsible stock.
Let's say you registered that AR15 with the state as it was in a legal configuration when you purchased it.
Can you unpin the stock as it is now a registered assault weapon?
Does it state anywhere in the SAFE act that you can't do that?
If it was an A2 rifle stock can you now put on a collapsible stock?
No need to discuss the virtues of registration or not registration. Just some hypothetical questions that I hear all the time in local gun shops.
So what is the consensus?

Yeah, if it's registered as a scary evil assault weapon, you can add anything you could on something like a fixed magazine or bolt action minus a magazine capacity more than 10 rounds with your detachable magazine. No NFA stuff though. collapsing stocks and folding stock are good to go on a "assault weapon", unless it's a pistol, which would be NFA.

If the state deemed it so evil so as to restrict it from the rest of it, why allow registration? If it saves just one life, no one should have it!
