If anyone is going to carry a gun for self defense one of the best things you can do is train. Thats not to say we all need to be at the level of a special operator, but its important to do as much as you can, IMO.
I do quite a bit of "at home" training with airsoft for the mechanical aspect of gun handling as well as body positioning, but nothing can replace some real FORCE ON FORCE training. I train with timers at home to induce some stress, but the type of stress you experience in FoF training cant be replicated on your own, or at a square range.
I would encourage everyone to attend FoF training asap as you face real world scenarios that we may find ourselves in as armed citizens. With how things are in the world currently it seems more important than ever to be as prepared as you can be.
@OnSight Firearms Training (Ben) really does a great job with his classes, he knows how to connect with the students, and this class was no different. Anyone can attend, if you feel like you are too old, out of shape, nervous around strangers, have physical limitations, etc... it doesnt matter because Ben makes it clear that this is not a competition with anyone but yourself. In last nights class there were men in their 60s, a 17 year old kid, even a husband and wife.
He put together a bunch of great real world scenarios that anyone could find themselves in, and students get to participate in the scenarios from different sides as well which is HUGE. Doing this keeps you engaged and thinking.
Ive done FoF before, and enjoyed it, but there was more "downtime" between being in my own scenarios so I really appreciated being included in the scenarios and I felt that the time spent was valuable. The atmosphere is great, friendly, and funny as hell too. There is alot of comedy with Ben and that really helps everyone feel relaxed, comfortable, and "part of the team". If anyone has attended any of Bens classes you will find that the majority of people have trained with him frequently, and that says alot.
To wrap it up, I want to thank Ben for another great training class. I encourage everyone to find some time to try a class with him, any class. I really think that FoF training is one of the best classes an armed citizen could take. Its important to be a fast, and accurate shooter, but even if youre the fastest and most accurate, facing armed attackers and having to make split second life or death, draw or dont draw, fight or flight, jail or justified decisions can only be trained by being in situations that mimic the real world.
