Getting started with Airsoft. Advice appreciated

Sadly between work, caring for my growing son, and trying to go back to school, it’s been hard to get to a range. But I want to keep up with practicing marksmanship basics so though I should finally get into shooting with a bb or pellet gun.

Anyone have any recommendations on brands to look into for a decent gun and pellet trap? Thinking maybe a handgun, to begin with. Any advice and recommendations for where to shop are appreciated. Thank you

There are quite a few copy-cat pistols from various makers, most operate on CO2 and there's little difference between BB's and plastic Air-soft pellets except for softness, the Traps are mesh which stops the plastic, but might not do well with BB's.
There's really cheap/plastic and there are Metal (Zink/White Metal) guns that have more heft and a closer feel to the Pistols they mimic.
Sig makes/markets their own and they're nice...couple Christmases back I bought plastic/metal Beretta copies for my Sons and they had a lot of fun with them abd the CO2 lasts long enough not to be aggravating, and they were accurate indoors at 20~30 feet, maybe farther outdoors, we didn't try.

I would use them more for muscle memory reps than to worry about accuracy.

They are good for some things but not everything.

There are battery powered electric ones called AEGs and there are gas blowback which actually cycle a gun to simulate a real gun. It can definitely be fun if you keep things in perspective

I have taught over 100 beginners using a Crosman 2240 bolt action single shot .22 pellet pistol. Less than $100, good for 40-50 shots per CO2 cartridge, as accurate at 10 yards as many .22 LR pistols.
Not a toy. Fairly powerful. It will shoot through both sides of an empty Campbell soup can ( steel can).
