In the wake of the murders committed at a Florida high school on February 14, the chorus of voices calling for curbing gun rights has crescendoed. The proposals range from “sensible restrictions” on the ability to purchase a firearm, to calling for complete repeal of the Second Amendment.

Here’s a handful of the headlines:

• An op-ed published in the New York Times on February 16 is an example of the full-throated fascism: “To Repeat: Repeal the Second Amendment.”
• The headline of an article by Case R. Sunstein published by Bloomberg on February 15 claims: “Nothing in the Constitution Prevents Sensible Gun Rules.”

• A letter published by the Chicago Tribune on February 17 insists that “America Has Outgrown the Second Amendment.”

• Max Boot, a columnist for the Washington Post foments the fear mongering, writing: “The Second Amendment is being turned into a suicide pact.”

I've seen news reports that are saying the kids are going to be protesting the 2A in Washington DC or something like that.

I never had any kids so maybe I don't understand... But I do understand when people are trying to take away one of my constitutional rights and my most effective way of self defense for me and my loved ones.


I need to go back to not watching any news again for a while. I have been watching it for most of the day today.

I cannot even imagine the effort it would take to disarm us and confiscate every weapon in the US. It would for sure start a civil war. They would need the US Military to go house to house - including their houses, and I just cannot see many of them accepting that unlawful order. Deaths of American citizens including those in the Military who followed that unlawful order would number in the millions.

"If" it ever did really happen, we would be invaded within months by the Chinese and / or the Russians. They would steam roll the entire country and eliminate the population.
