I hate hochul but this article is nonsense. Cutting fees for out of network specialists is not "cutting life saving measures". It's an attempt to control costs for all the goddam retirees who are sucking on the government teat.

This state and this country are broke. The future liabilities are much larger than the state or federal government can possibly pay. Sorry but it's the sad truth and the sooner the people of this country realize it the better. There is A LOT of pain coming our way. This is a small beginning.

Where is it written that government employees get health care for the rest of their life? None of my private employers did that. I pay a goddam mortgage payment each month for health insurance with some hefty co pays. Government retirees can go to hell and the sooner they die the better in my opinion.

My uncle took a low paying civil service job despite an advanced graduate degree for the healthcare — my cousin needed a lot medical care when he was young. That healthcare for life was the promise made. It was the promise made to me when I took a low paying civil service job. I just managed to get a better paying one. Most were not as fortunate. I was exposed to many carcinogens, injuries and diseases as a result of my job with the promise of lifetime healthcare. It’s that simple.
And they aren’t so broke to give free healthcare to deadbeats who never worked for it. Don’t forget the free housing and welfare too. Retirees worked for it and earned it.

We thought it was in the state constitution but a court ruling later said -nope. Pensions are, but not healthcare. But nyc retirees won a lawsuit earlier. Maybe stars retirees will too. County retirees are safe for the moment but it’s coming.

You would think the Healthcare is part of the pension.

But, even if it was, NYS has a well documented history of not giving a fuck what a constitution says anyway. They seem to be able to find judges who will agree with the most ridiculous things if they want.

Yeah, but we retirees thought we had two things on our side on that one. One, we had court precedent on our side that the court already ruled they would have to sell government property before they could reduce pensions . Secondly, that the decision would effect the judge ‘s retirement plans too-lol.
