I suspect democrat leadership knows Hochul is going to be defeated, so they'll give away (steal) all the money and benefits they can, and when Republicans come in and have to cut bullshit like massive unemployment payments, they'll call out the Republicans as heartless, stealing the money people need to feed their children blaming both the problem and solution on Republican failures....neither complex nor conspiracy and if this "Hick from the sticks" can figure it out, you can bet they're already planning to do it.

When we had to compete with the government, unemployment checks, and "stimulus" for workers during covid, it did everything *BUT* save the company money. People should never be incentivized to not work. NY is the least business friendly state in the country.

It both increases patroll cost and effectively reduces the employee salary because the employer is not willing to pay as much. I believe there are some big union contracts fights upcoming and the NY tax payer isn't going to be happy with employees who earn well into six figures will be getting paid and their union and company offsetting contract cost using the unemployment benefit and a cost savings tool. The tax payer not represented in these negotiations but their tax dollars will be available as a cost savings to the company (corporate welfare) and the unions will use the check as a DNC talking point.
