And for anyone who misses the point of this post.. there is nothing wrong with owning fun guns or range toys, but be smart with what you get especially when considering the 2A at the core

This is exactly my thought process when I buy guns. Is it a tool or do I just want it because its cool. Im not gonna lie there are more than a few rifles on that novelty list that I want, But would consider them range toys LARPing pieces. I also just picked up an M1 Garand, and while its a piece of history and incredibly fun to shoot, its still just a range toy.
Interchangeability between parts, ammo, and mags is crucial critical from a logistics stand point.

EDIT/PS: I dont really see why this is a "hot take". I feel that anyone above a casual "own a gun thats been under the bed so long it has dust on it" or a FUDD should be thinking about this

I consider this a hot take because more and more I see a lot of people with their " 7.5" 7.62x39 AR pistols" or Kriss vectors or other odd ball stuff as "SHTF" guns and what not (just 2 examples)

You follow the wrong IG accounts then , the others will find very quick what works and what doesnt. Hell anyone whos taken even a basic defensive carbine class will know whats up

No thats the problem. I follow the correct IG accounts.. its others that don't lmao.. and the ones who are buying the novelty guns and pushing them as go to guns (or even worse, ones not even in the novelty class) aren't going to find out quick because they usually never go to classes or they end up in echo chambers that when you call out bad set ups. White knights come in and say "if it works for them" or other dumb stuff lol

While I don't disagree, I just think there are better modern day options that I would go to first. The Garand is a tested, viable battle implement no doubt or argument about that

If they're too stupid to test and train with potentially life saving tools that's on them. I typically don't see those people as its not the circle I associate with. Like buying a trauma kit and never opening it to figure out how all the stuff works
