This is what the anti-gunners want with their "universal" background checks, a non-working NICS website that mirrors the crashes of the Obamacare website, multiple attempts and waiting just to take possession of a legally purchased firearm.
Sounds dramatic. What, if X person wants to buy a guy for someone as a present theyre suddenly going to not buy a gun cause of an outage? Riiiiiight. Just like when people do those national no fillup gas days. Right. The stations lose money until tomorrow when people buy anyway.
I pretty much support my local FFLs. A delay means I go back the next day and have another beer with them. The only way this would be a headache is if you have to travel far and make a second trip.
Too bad voting identification didn't scrutinize people like this.
a one day delay isn't the end of the world, a couple days, however, could mean a real problem for high volume dealers. Like 'deplorable' said, go back the next day or the day after.
and just out of curiosity, isn't buying a gun as present a "strawman purchase". How would you buy your child his first .22 rifle as a surprise present?
For me, the only time I can make it to the local FFL when he's open and I'm not working is on Saturday. A delay means waiting another week - and that's if I don't have something come up next Saturday that keeps me from making it there before closing.
And then there is always the question of what happens when a true black market springs up? I think that's a sure fire way to insure that the NICS checks will not be bottlenecked.
