I hate to have to be on high alert from dogs and their stupid owners seemingly every day. No matter were I am, there is a poorly trained pit bull somewhere, even in the nice neighborhoods. I don't know how others feel, but It is without question that I believe dogs are the most likely scenario in which I would be using a firearm for defensive purposes.

I have had multiple pit bulls over the last 5 years aggressively approach me. Thankfully the dogs where not trying to bite. These owners have no fucking clue that I was not going to hesitate to kill their dog at the very first nip on the leg or hand etc. I do keep semi-non lethal option in my pocket in case I can crack a dog in the skull or snout instead of perforating the dog, but if it comes to that, it will be the owners fault 100%. I will not run away, I will not give the dog any chances. It is soley up to the owner to train their dog not to approach.

We like to hike with our dogs. Always on leash. I fucking hate the people that walk their dogs off leash and let them run up to us and our dogs like it’s no big deal. I’m supposed to read the dogs mind and somehow the owner saying “it’s ok, they’re friendly” makes everything ok. Then I’m the asshole for saying something. Be a bigger asshole if I have to put a bullet in their dog.

Years ago I was cornered up against a fence at my kids daycare by an aggressive german shepherd. No gun! All I could do was yell at the dog. Owner finally came out to get the dog. I warned him if it ever happens again I’ll shoot it.
Next day I had my gun. Shepard comes flying around the corner coming at me with my daughter in my arms. I drew and was ready to shoot it. Owner comes running out yelling don’t shoot don’t shoot that’s the nice one. Turns out he had twin dogs. One nice, one mean.

Just two years ago a neighbor’s shepard came charging, growling, barking at my wife an I while taking a walk. I drew and told my wife if it hits the road I’m dropping it. He stopped right at the edge. Had I shot it I probably wouldn’t be a very good neighbor.
Basically I don’t like shepards and they don’t like me

Everyone *thinks* that their dog is good. People forget that they are still animals and even though they are 'friendly and loyal' to the household, the animal instinct is still there. We have rational reasoning (most of us, that is )
